Health and Nutrition

Promoting well-being through accessible healthcare and proper nutrition.

SAHARI strengthens health systems and provides essential nutrition services for vulnerable communities across Sudan, particularly in conflict- and drought-affected areas. We work to ensure mothers, children, and at-risk populations receive the care and support they need to survive and thrive.

Health Services and Facility Support

  • Construction and upgrading of rural health facilities to improve access to essential medical services.

  • Training Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) to support safer deliveries and better maternal health outcomes.

  • Implementing programs like the Mother and Child Cash Transfer Plus (MCCT+) in Port Sudan, providing financial support to expectant mothers in partnership with UNICEF.

Nutrition Programs

  • Operating nutrition centers in Mellit, Al Laiet, and Um Keddada, offering nutritional support, education, and growth monitoring for children.

  • Providing supplements to pregnant and lactating women to ensure maternal and infant health.

  • Conducting house-to-house nutrition campaigns and deploying mobile teams to reach remote or displaced communities.

Integrated Health and Nutrition Outreach

  • Supporting 28 OTP sites, 16 centers in Umkadadah, and 12 in Al Laiet, plus 6 TSFP centers for under-five children, adolescent girls, and mothers.

  • Ensuring last-mile delivery of essential health and nutrition supplies, joint monitoring, and capacity-building for health workers.

  • Aligning all interventions with the Sudan Federal Ministry of Health guidelines and the 2024 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP).
