Sahari Organization for Development was born out of a deep commitment to women, children, and vulnerable communities
After moving to Canada and becoming a Canadian citizen, Dr. Ahmed recognized Canada’s long-standing commitment to women’s rights and gender equity around the globe. Inspired by this, she established Sahari in Canada as an extension of her lifelong mission—to create opportunities, restore dignity, and strengthen resilience for women and vulnerable communities. Dr. Magda Ahmed, brings with her decades of experience working with women in war-affected zones in Sudan, where she provided critical support to those facing displacement, poverty, and violence.
Today, Sahari continues this work both in Sudan and in Canada. Guided by our mission to relieve poverty, promote health, advance education, and empower vulnerable communities—especially women, children, refugees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs), we strive to build pathways to safety, empowerment, and equality.
Our vision is simple yet powerful:
a world where women, children, and conflict-affected populations live with dignity, resilience, and equal opportunity.
At Sahari, we believe that when women and vulnerable communities are supported and empowered, they do more than survive—they thrive, and they uplift entire societies.
